Frequently asked questions
What does the app do?
It bulk-creates Shopify orders, or draft orders for review, from a CSV file. Upload the file, the app checks every row against your customers, products and shipping methods, you fix any problems inline, and then it creates the orders in batches.
What format does the CSV need?
Download the template from inside the app. It has one row per order with these columns: Customer Email; Shipping Method; Billing Name, Street, Address1, Address2, Company, City, Zip, Province, Country and Phone; the same set of Shipping columns; and up to ten line items as Lineitem1 SKU, Lineitem1 Barcode and Lineitem1 quantity through to Lineitem10. Country should be a two-letter ISO code or full country name, and Province a code where your store uses them.
How are customers matched?
By the Customer Email column. If a customer with that email already exists in your store, the order is attached to them. If not, Shopify creates a new customer from the email and the names and addresses in the row.
How are products matched?
Each line item is matched by SKU first, then by barcode, against active product variants in your store. If a row's SKU or barcode is not found, the app flags it and lets you pick the right product from your catalogue without editing the file.
Why is my shipping method rejected?
The Shipping Method column must match the name of a delivery method that is active in your Shopify shipping profiles for the destination country. If it doesn't, the app lets you choose a valid method for that row.
What is the difference between Orders and Draft Orders mode?
Orders mode creates each row as a draft order and completes it immediately, so it appears as a normal order. Draft Orders mode leaves them as drafts so you can review, edit and complete them yourself in Shopify.
What does the free order option do?
It applies a 100% discount to products and shipping on every imported order, using the discount name you enter so it is clear on the order why nothing was charged. Without it, orders are created as requiring payment.
How large can an import be?
Orders are created in batches of 25 so that the app stays within Shopify's API limits. Large files simply take longer; keep the browser tab open until the progress indicator finishes.
What data does the app keep?
Only your store's connection record. Your CSV is parsed in the browser and never stored, and the orders it creates live in Shopify, not in the app. The privacy policy has the full detail.
Which permissions does the app need and why?
read_customers, write_customers: to match the Customer Email column to existing customers, and to let Shopify create a customer when there is no match; read_products: to match SKUs and barcodes to active product variants and to show titles and prices while you review; read_shipping: to validate the Shipping Method column against the delivery methods and countries configured in your store; write_draft_orders: to create each imported row as a draft order; read_orders, write_orders: to complete draft orders into orders when you import in Orders mode.
What happens when I uninstall?
Your store's connection record is deleted automatically. Orders, draft orders and customers already created remain in your store.
How do I report a problem?
Use the form below or email us. Please include your store's myshopify.com domain, roughly when the import ran, the error message shown, and if possible the row from the CSV that failed with any personal details removed.
Privacy
Read the Order Import from CSV privacy policy for what the app accesses, stores and deletes.
